The Pictones were originally from Palmerston North and they played around the bottom half of the North Island.

They recorded three records for the TALA label in 1961 and 1962.


They also provided backing on Ron Hall's single for TALA in 1962.

Trevor Harrison left and they continued as a foursome and also worked with a number of women singers, notably Donna Reid, Sally Sadler and Cherie Locke.
