This was the first appearance of a chip
in a New Zealand Phone Card. The phone card still had $5 worth of calls
on the magnetic stripe, but there was value stored in the chip
and this
was redeemable at different retail outlets around the country, all of
which had special hardware installed to read the cards.
2,000 were inserted in individual collector folders, illustrated below.
These cards were also included in the
Collector Pack NZ-CP-30
and were overprinted on the reverse with
Collectors Issue 1994 or International Collectors Issue 1994, if
included in the International Pack.
