Anne Murphy

 

Anne Murphy was an Auckland pop vocalist. She was the sister of Jimmy Murphy.

In 1962 she recorded her first single for Viking, "Lessons In Love"/"Careless Hands". The single was backed by the Sundowners.

In 1963, she recorded two singles on the Zodiac label. These two were backed by the Kavaliers. On the first, the B-Side was a with her brother, Jimmy, "Back In Baby's Arms"/"Very Few Heartaches & Very Few Tears".

The second single was "My Heart Said Bossa Nova"/"Pretty Boy Lonely".

 

Later in 1963, she returned to Viking for two more singles. The first was backed by the Sundowners again, the second being released in 1964 and backed by the Jimmy Sloggett Orchestra.


Anne and Jimmy moved to Australia and in 1966, they recorded two singles together on CBS, "I Can't Let You Out Of My Site"/"The Road Of Love" and "Island Of Dreams"/"Sorrow Tomorrow". A further single on Festival, "The Great Pretender"/"I'll Be Home Again", was also released on Festival in New Zealand, and released in 1967.



 Anne also did a duet with Herma Keil & The Keil Isles in 1963 on the A-Side of a single on the Viking label, "We're Goin' Dancing"
