TANZA (To Assist New Zealand Artists)
1949 - 1959
TANZA has the honour of releasing the first record wholly processed in New Zealand. "Blue Smoke" was recorded in New Zealand on 3rd October 1948, pressed in New Zealand on 23rd February 1949 and released 26th June 1949.
The first four releases used a single digit catalogue number, while 5 and 6 had a "T" prefix. Number 7 and 8 also had a "T" on their first pressings, then "Z" on subsequent pressings. From 9 onwards the "Z" prefix was used for all remaining releases.
During the 78RPM era, nine records were also additionally released on 45RPM's. Z315 was the last 78RPM, and subsequent releases were on 45RPM, using the "ZF" prefix and continuing the number range.
