Mojomen

Line-Up:
    Dave Russell (Lead Guitar)
    Brian Henderson (Keyboards)
    Billy Kristian (Bass Guitar)
    Jimmy Hill (Drums)
    Sonny Day (Vocals)

The Mojomen formed in 1967 and took up residence at Mojo's nightclub. The line-up was a very impressive one, with all of its members having previously played with other top New Zealand bands.

Dave Russell had been with Ray Columbus and the Invaders, Max Merritt and the Meteors and the Layabouts. Brian Henderson had played with the Keil Isles, while Billy Kristian and Jimmy Hill had both also been with Ray Columbus and the Invaders and Max Merritt and the Meteors. Sonny Day had of course been with his own Sundowners.

Playing mainly soul music, the group was also part of the touring "C'mon" show during 1967 and provided backing for a number of the other artists on the tour.

When Sonny Day got an offer to join the Dallas Four in 1968, he accepted and the Mojomen folded. Unfortunately they did not get to record any of their music.
